Easter egg hunt

Happy Easter to you all! i hope you all had a wonderful day. I certainly did. It started out with a little easter egg hunt with Elle. She was so excited and sat on our bed clutching her basket saying "come on mummy and daddy, lets go downstairs". Her face lit up when she saw the eggs everywhere.
We then went to my lovely aunties house for lunch and for tea. We had a lovely family day on her garden. I love my aunty alot and we always have the best time at hers. Mia was giving everyone the best smiles ever and Elle spent the day bouncing on the trampoline and going down the slide.

Apart from a lovely easter day, i have been having lovely days also although it is hard to plan anything right now as Mia is cluster feeding and i seem to be chained to the sofa feeding and feeding. But i am so proud of myself for continuing to feed as it has not been easy atall and still isnt. But i am so happy knowing she is getting the best start in life and i do enjoy feeding her. She has started to stroke me now when we nurse. Yesterday, she was a whole month old! i am so in shock that time has flown so quickly.

I have hardly had time to open the laptop, let alone update my blog but i hope to be able to update alot more now. x

Three weeks

Mia is three weeks today. Time is going so quickly! Mia has a tongue tie which is preventing her from latching. We are still nursing using shields but it takes her a while to feed. An average feed now is around four hours. Sometimes seven! i am chained mostly to the sofa or bed feeding her. She has a hospital appointment tomorrow morning to see if they need to snip the skin under her tongue which then means she will be able to feed without me needing the shields.
Elle is getting better with her sister. She became quite jealous and upset but she is adjusting.
My days havent really been exciting. I have just been feeding most of the day, giving cuddles to my girls and then bed at an extremeley early time!
Housework needs doing. Washing needs doing. The garden needs doing. But it will all just have to wait!

Twelve days in.

Mia is now 12 days old! i have hardly had time to open my laptop, let alone blog. But this evening, both of my fairies are fast asleep which means i have a little spare time to update.
Mia is doing so well. We had trouble feeding at first and she didnt feed for the first two days but after seeing a lactation specialist, we have learnt that she has a tongue tie which is preventing her from latching. i am now feeding her with nipple shields and we are going to a consultant to see about getting the tongue tie sorted so we can feed without the shields.

She is just perfect. Elle adores her sister but jealousy is starting to kick in. She is giving me a bit of a hard time but it is to be expected and i know she is just trying to adjust and she doesnt mean to be a little tinker!
I am so in love with both of my girls now ♥

My fairy has arrived.

I am so pleased to announce that Mia Isobel has arrived safely into the world. It was a very long and difficult labour that lasted for 55 hours but she is beyond perfect and i couldnt have asked for more. She is so so beautiful and we are deeply in love with her. Elle is besotted and so are we. She weighed 7lbs 11ozs and arrived on the 24th at 5am. *sigh* i feel i am in a dreamworld :)

blossoms and baking

Today, my little fairy and i spent the morning hunting for fairy bits for her dressing up basket. We found more wings, little tutu's and some hair pretties. She also got a few more bits for her dolls house and some mermaids for her baths. I do love pound shops as i got so many treasures today for £7 :) She then got a new tin for her dressing up jewellery and then we went to the supermarket to get some bits to make cakes after her nap.
A lovely morning :)

After her nap, she made some lovely vanilla cupcakes (with a little help of course)and we played in her teepee for a little in her bedroom. It has been a nice day. I am trying to make the most of our alone time as in one week, we will be bringing her a baby sister.

remembering summer 2010

Today, all i can day dream about is perfect sunny days in the summer with my two girls in the abbey gardens, horse fields and lake.
Last year, all i did with Elle was go on adventure days to sit by the stream. Camera in my hand, tiny china teasets in Elle's. We had perfect days and i also spent many days there with my family and for a surpirse birthday teaparty for me too that my dear husband and sister organised. Sitting under the oak tree surrounded by flowers and my loved ones.
Many picnics were held there last year. Many walks around the lake and bbqs and watching hot air balloons take off from the nearby field. Many hours photographing my fairy in the sunset, finding the best fishing places for my husband for this year, watching children jumping and swimming in the lake and many many hours stroking the horses noses!

This year will be no different. I have already spied blossom and daffodils blooming in the gardens and woods. Bluebells shall be here in a month. The stream has been refilled and there are so many new bulbs that were planted throughout the winter. I am excited to see what they turn into.

These are just a few little days from last summer. Elle was so tiny. I am so excited to see the photographs already from this summer. The sunset in her auburn ringletts and my new little lady lying peacefully on blankets by the flowers.

Dear Summer, please be kind this year and bless us with some beautiful days again ♥

Zara: beautiful treasures

Some beautiful treasures i would love for my little Elle (and then for my little baby girl).
Zara do the most beautiful darling clothes for little faeries. i wish i had much more pennies to spend in there! (please buy my photo prints so i can indulge in my obbession with florals and lace!).

Today is a sofa day in my house. My husband is busy working at the Olivier Awards in London and i have been up most of the night with a little girl who couldnt stop being sick everywhere. four changed of pjama's and a bath and hairwash at 4am. She seems to be doing ok today but has asked for her princess blanket and The little mermaid. Her uncle visited her this morning to see her and her Yaya (my mother) is coming around shortly to make her smile.

I only have 13 days to go until my due date but my midwife is not happy with me still being pregnant. I have to see a consultant on tuesday for a growth scan and check as my midwife believes this is a "big baby" and after previous complications with Elle's birth, they are unsure if i shall be able to push out a big full term baby. i am just hoping that the scan will say she isnt all that big afterall and i am left to labour naturally but i need to prepare that if she is bigger than what Elle was (7lbs 10ozs) then i might have to be induced early. This option realy does scare me and any chance i am given to labour naturally, i will take. If i am induced, i wont get the chance to have her in the water which i would love.

Also, i am excited to see what she will end up being called. We are each like a different name and we are going to decide when she is here what her name will be. Or flip a coin as we are boh so stubborn and both would like the name we have chosen!

I am now going to cuddle my little lady to death who is walking around the room in a tiara, ballet tutu and little dress up shoes saying "im soooo pretty".
i do love her ♥

a perfect monday.

My darling husband has a whole week off to spend with Elle, me and bump. It has been the first real sunny day this year so far and we had a wonderful day.
Gilles made fresh baked bread this morning which made the house smell wonderful. Then, after some lovely soup, we went to the lake and horse fields. Elle was so excited by all the horses and gripped so tight onto her daddy's hand. We fed the swans and went to the gardens and saw the crocus's blooming.

Only 19 days until i am due! the cramps and pains are coming daily but still no labour. i am hoping to be assessed on thursday at the midwifes as i am nearly crying in pain most nights. regular contractions that turn into nothing. I know she will be worth the wait though. She has so many excited people wanting to meet her!
I have hardly any pictures of me pregnant. i have gained many pounds and i miss my long blonde hair! Today at 37 weeks pregnant with my little Elle.

words cannot express how much i love you. You inspire me everyday to be a better person. i become so overwhelmed seeing you grow up into the most beautifulest fairy right in front of my eyes. little fairy nursery

We have been very busy setting up the new nursery. It is not completely finished yet so one little corner is complete which i love. we are just awaiting our cot bedding and i have a few handmade crafts to make for the walls.
I have added my fairydoor series to the walls above the changing table and i am so pleased with how it looks. These are three of my favourite photographs of mine. i am very proud of them :)

This is a set i created for the new nursery. The nursery is vintage floral with one dark purple wall. I hope my little girl likes these prints her mummy did.
I have added them to my etsy store also as i hope others might like them in their baby girls nurseries too! They are £5.75/$9 for the three photographs.

The nursery is coming along nicely. My husband has been working hard and pictures will soon be ready to be added. Tomorrow, i will be working on a few handmade crafts for the room and i received some wonderful wooden bunting from the lovely fee at chippernelly on etsy. We have done a swap and i have sent her my fairground series prints (and a few extras). I am so excited to hang up the bunting. It is truly lovely.

My midwife has declared to me that she thinks i can have my fairy any day now. i still hae four weeks left but i have been having contractions on and off all this week and when i had my appointment this week, she said the baby is ready for an appearance. It is exciting news but i went nine days over with Elle and i just have a feeling this little lady is going to make me wait to meet her also. I am finding it difficult to walk as she is so low and engaged. i am just glad i am on the homestretch now and will meet her real soon. x

29 months

my little lady, at 29 months! all ready to become a big sister. She amazes me more everyday. She can count to 20, she knows all her days of the week, she can quote the whole of the hungry caterpillar! She is just the funniest little thing and her curls make my heart melt everyday.
She is more than ready now to meet her sister. She carries babies around the house, cradling them saying "whats the matter baby...its ooooooook. ill kiss you better. all better? yes? oh nooo, Elle get you juice and medicine"
She is just a darling and sits in her sisters room playing instead of her own and keeps kissing my tummy and asking the baby to come out.

I shall be taking a break from the 20th march of my photography shop and until then, all the sets i have available of three prints shall be £5 or around $9 in my etsy shop or my facebook page. When i re-open in mid april, the prices shall be going up. I am making extra pennies to buy the last few pretties for the nursery. Etsy has far too many lovely things that i should like so all my photography print money can be spent on getting these little bits for her.

valentines dress

Yesterday, i forgot to take my iron tablets. We took Elle to a birthday party which was nearly an hours walk away and then an hours walk back. By the time we got home, i was so tired and weak that i had to go to bed. It was 7:30pm! My love came and tucked me up and then surprised me with the most perfect lace dress i had seen in a store. I was so happy and pleased. He is so very lovely to me.
This morning, the sun was pouring through the window and as my little fairy was jumping on the bed catching the rainbows my crystal made on the walls, i did a little shoot with my new valentines dress. At the moment, all i can do is gaze lovingly at it as being eight months pregnant, it is slightly impossible to fit into. But i shall and i am so excited for that day.

romantic set

I have a new little set available on my etsy store. i am offering the set at a really low price for a while. £5/$9
i have ordered myself this set to have above my dressing table. At the moment, it is three of my favourite things.

Six weeks left of my pregnancy. Todays midwife appointment didnt go too well. i have been put on bedrest for a few days as i basically passed out during my appointment. There are a few things that are worrying us all and that is my iron levels which are dropping. I am on a higher dose to try and keep the levels up. Also, i am experiencing cramps and strong tightenings which are being caused by me not resting! And also, there are keytones present which means i am either not eating/drinking enough or my body is not absorbing the nutrients well enough. All this is just making me feel a little tired and so i experience horrid dizzy turns. I think it was actually a good thing it happened during my appointment as then the midwife got to see it and help me get better. Poor lady. i think i gave her a bit of a shock!

I am just really looking forward to having my little girl here now and getting my health back.

lace, flowers and peterpan

Here are two new prints that i have added to my Etsy store. I am in love with this new necklace which only cost me £2! very very happy lady here. I am so pleased with these. I have been using my film lense again and the soft, romantic effect has made me fall in love. i dont think i will ever use a digital lense again!
i now need to look for some more lovely canon film lenses :)

Yesterday, i had the most perfect day with my aunty. We spent the morning at an antiques place finding treasure and being generally excited about the whole place. Its so lovely that she shares the same enthusiam for tiny buttons, fabric hearts and vintage clothes/furniture. We whizzed around the shop all smiley and lots of "oooos and aaaahs"!. We then had lunch in a new lovely cornish pasty cafe and then went to a showing of peterpan on ice at the theatre. My husband was stage manager for the show so we got a special box and went backstage before and after the show which was lovely. the performance was so dreamy and beautiful. I just wish it wasnt sold out over the weekend as i really want to see it again.

Only seven weeks now until we meet our little fairy. She is a character already kicking around and squirming. And just like her sister, she is very much a daddys girl. She can be fast asleep and as soon as daddy starts talking to my tummy, she is wide awake poking little elbows and knees out. It feels so surreal thinking that soon she will be here. We are getting everything ready for her now and the nursery has been started. i am very excited for the entry where i can write that she has arrive x

i wanted to share with you a few of my favourite treasures so some of my favourite corners of my home. i am busy nesting at the moment and cannot wait to show you pictures of our little girls new nursery. My husband is in the middle of painting it at the moment :) She is due to arrive in eight weeks time and we are all so excited for her to be here now. I am finding it very uncomfatable with the amount of braxton hicks i am experiencing!

Summer cannot come soon enough so i can have lovely days with my girls and wear my pretty lace dresses, skirts and brogues again! i am far too huge to fit in my lovely clothes at the moment so i have been going around charity shops finding lovely items to wear in the summer for an incentive to get into them!
I also cannot wait to start doing more photography. I need something creative to get my teeth into but at the moment, when ever i plan to do something - i am either too tired or Elle doesnt allow me/want me to!

I am excited to see how this blog progresses within the next year. i do have plans for it and shall not be leaving it so long between posts. x

hello to you all.
i must apologise for my lack of posting. i havent been well for a while and just recovering from the swine flu that i have had since before christmas. I was so disheartened as it ruined my family christmas and new year. But i seem to be on the mend and feeling very positive and creative for this year. I have made a list of resolutions/plans/dreams for the coming year and i shall be sure to update here alot more. I am changing my blog to feature more prettier finds from myself and others.

1. Have a baby! Little baby pink number 2 is due on the 26th march.

2. After having little lady, i shall be starting up my Ginger and Lilly's closet. Finding vintage items with my love an selling them through my shop.

3. Taking my gingerlillytea photography more "childlike". i will be focusing on childrens prints for nurseries and bedrooms. Taking photographs for other lovely crafty people and making lots new crafty friends online.

4. Spending summer days in the secret gardens and streams of the abbey with two little fairies and my camera!

5. Spending as much time as possible with my family. i love them all so much and i am always my most content surrounded by my loved ones.

6. Making little journal pages for Elle of our adventures and special exploring days. Writing more stories and poems just for her and little fairy number 2.

7. Spending time making the house look pretty and finding things at carboots and antique fairs to fill the house up with

8. Start making bunting. (i think i shall calling upon my aunty for help in this area!!)

9. BAKE!!! cupcakes, scones, pies, crumbles.

Little Elle's fairy party

My little fairy Elle turned two yesterday. She had lots of little friends over for the afternoon and it was such a lovely day.
I wish i could have taken better pictures but it was so dark during the day. All the house lights were on and my camera was having a fit at me everytime i tried to take a picture so on came the flash :(
i husband spent seven hours making her fairy toadstool cake and it turned out amazingly! (and was pretty tasty too!). I wanted to do the cake myself but last week i came down with a virus and didnt have a chance to do my practice run and i didnt want to ruin the cake so i stuck to the cupcakes and the paper butterflies, boats and cupcake holders.
She was soo excited all day and when we put her to bed last night, she was asleep within minutes!! i love my little two year old :)

Here is my little fairy or pixie boy. i have so much love already for this little being.
My darling fairy turns two in two days. i have been making bunting and paper boats and butterflies and putting together lovely party bags with little fabric bags and ribbon. The cake has been made today by my darling husband which i shall share pictures of after sunday.

My darling girl in her Hollie-in-bloom flower fairy dress.

Thank you to everyone for your lovely comments on my last entry. I am now nearly 11 weeks and the sickness is slowwwwly started to fade but is still there. We had to go for an emergency scan last week due to pains. Everything is ok and we saw our little baby dancing away. It was magical. i am so in love with him or her already and started thinking of names :)

i have started getting into the christmas spirit. The weather is so gloomy and rainy here that it feels like winter already. My birthday was so perfect. My sister and husband planned a suprise picnic in the favourite spot that Elle i am visit under a huge oak tree. They had decorated the area in bunting and lanterns and fairy statues. It was so lovely. Then we all played piggy in the middle with cricket bats then had a game of cricket. I felt like i was turning seven, not twenty-four! i received Cath Kidston goodies too which was very exciting :)

Well i have the most exciting news ever to share with you all but i cannot reveal it for another few weeks. i cannot wait until i can though!!

Elle and i went to the meadow the other evening to do a few more photographs for Fawns and Fairies. i am so pleased with the photographs.
i have a few busy weeks coming up. This week, my husband and i celebrate our third wedding anniversary! i the have my friend and her little girl who was born a week after Elle staying. They have come all the way from Australia. i went on a baby forum when i was first trying to conceive Elle and went through my pregnancy with her on there and now we talk everyday. It will so lovely to finally meet her and have the two girls play. we have lovely bbq'a by the river planned and a photoshoot of the girls together in the meadows.
Then i shall be turning twenty-four on the 8th. oh dear!
the week after that, i shall be having another new neice. My husbands brother and his wife will be having their second girl. i then have my brothers birthday after that and then a week away with my little lady, sister, neice, aunty, uncle and cousin! i am very excited. My husband will be in london building the set for the in the night garden performance so will not be coming but it is very good money so i am not complaining really.

today, we are going to a little fun fete where my dad lives which will be lovely. Elle is insisting on wearing her wellies even though it is around 24 degrees!!

i have been so inspired by some lovely ladies over on flickr to document my little fairy girls childhood as best as i can. These pictures are so wonderfully beautiful and i wish that my photographs of Elle will soon be as good as these. She just wont say still for a second now a days!
I have discovered the lovely leave your sleep album by Natalie Merchant. Elle and i are in love with The king of China's daughter, maggie and milly and molly and may and the peppery man.

Today is a day at the abbey gardens and then dinner is a picnic in the garden with the teepee. a lovely day i do believe shall be had!

I was asked by a lovely lady, Natalie, on facebook to photography some of her headband son my darling little lady. the weather has been awful right now so i havent been able to get out much to do the shots i wanted to do in the woods. Elle was playing nicely in her room yesterday with her teaset so we did a few. There are going to be many more photographs to be taken for these lovely headbands. You can visit her page here

i have a few more shoots coming up. Some pretty dresses are being made me my little fairy as we speak! i shall be adding these pictures up as and when i take them. Also, i am doing some more work for the lovely Amy from Amy's personalised crafts that i mention a few blog posts back.

Sunbeam Bubbles

I have a new print in my etsy shop called sunbeam bubbles. It is part of my childrens series and it was so tricky to capture. My 50mm portrait lens is half broken and only works on manual so i have to blow the bubbles into the sunlight, then try and focus my camera while trying to put the lid on the bubble tube before it went all over me! i am very pleased with the results though and it is straight out of the camera :) the colours were so beautiful that evening.

Two and a half weeks ago, i decided to make a big change to my diet and lifestyle. i cut out all chocolate, sugary drinks, sweets and junk food. i have lots of veg, bio yoghurt and fruit now and do two hours of exercise everyday. And hour power walking with my little lady around the lake in her pushchair and then an hour of high cardio and tummy crunches before bedtime. i am feeling alot better and havent even craved anything naughty.
i have always had a bad attitude with food. this goes back to the age of 11. it has been a vicious cycle of not eating enough for months, getting ill then eating again and gaining weight then hating it so not eating, getting ill... and so on.
i am nearly 24 and think i have damaged my body enough so i am making a big concious decision to change my whole lifestyle so i dont fall back into that old mind set.
We are trying for another baby and i want to make sure i am as healthy as possible to carry another little fairy or prince.
i have noticed a big change in my body already so i am so pleased with myself.

another wonderful afternoon in our favourite place. we took my mother, aunty and cousin with us and sat on logs with our picnics. Elle and James went exploring and we found pinecones and little flowers.
This evening i shall be going back there with Elle for sunset and some more photographs.

today, my fairy and i went to the woods with her new teepee for a little while in the afternoon. she is such a little explorer. she hides in bushes and climbs logs and trees. She has just turned 20 months. i feel so lucky that i have her. the last 20 months have been such an adventure and she has turned unto such an amazing little person.
Tomorrow, we are having a picnic with my aunty, uncle and cousin by the river.

This week, i have received news that i am to be featured in the new YEAH-Magazine which will be out shortly. I am also featured in the new Dujour Magazine. its so lovely to know that you are in printed magazines because i can save these magazines and Elle can look at them when she is bigger. And i hope one day, she might feel proud of her mummy.

in the bluebells

yesterday we visited my most favourite place. High Wood. It is the most beautifulest place. The whole wood is covered in bluebells and there is a stream running through the middle. it is so isolated that hardly anyone knows it is there. The wood is surrounded by fields of sheep so you can hear the baby lambs singing. Last year, Elle was only seven months and spent the afternoon lying in the bluebells but this year she was exploring everywhere. we found wigwams and logs and little paths for her to run along. We are going back there on monday evening for another picnic.

everytime i go to high wood, i always think of this song. It is my favourite song and was played at my wedding. Such a fitting song i do believe.

i am looking for some lovely childrens fashion and interior blogs that are based in england. i have found some lovely ones but all the posts are based around american or australian shops and i would love to look at some based around english shops for my little girl

my little fairy in her first bunches! i just love her more and more everyday.
Yesterday, i went out and bought her paints and brushes and we had a lovely afternoon painting. i do believe that her painting looks rather like a unicorn! she got very excited about painting and started squealing and shaking everytime i filled her pallette up with another paint.

i have found such a lovely childrens magazine online called Babiekins which is run by the equally lovely blog, little miss heirlooms.

Elle has now discovered my dolls house which takes pride place in our living room. She is busy sitting on the floor gasping and getting excited about all the little things inside. i need to start getting it fully decorated and kitted out in lovely furniture for her. i do have a few things in there which she is busy exploring (she is pretending to drink out of the teeny tiny tea cups!).

My mother bought Elle a new little teaset in her own baby hamper. We went for our first tea party with it this week and she was so happy and excited to be playing with it. She took them all out carefully and lined them up and pretended to drink out of the cups.
we then played in the bluebells. i think this little garden and stream is our new favourite place. there are lots of trees and flowers for elle to kiss and stroke and she can run around to her hearts content.
Tomorrow, we are being taken to the bluebell woods which i am very excited about. That is my favourite place and i just know Elle will be so excited to see it too.

Tomorrow is a day at the steam ralley. we got every year to around five or six or them. i cannot wait to show Elle the craft tents and the old tractors and farm petting corner.
Our days at the moment are filled with trips to the swimming pool and long walks through woods, gardens and around lakes. Today is no exception x

Here is my sweet sweet baby niece. need i say anymore? she is just too wonderful for words. She reminds me so much of Elle when she was tiny. i am so proud of my sister. She is perfect at being a mummy.

In other news, i have madea decision. I am not going to do any photography for a while (apart from my sweet girl and neice!). i just need this time to be a mummy. Elle and i have been spending our days at the horse fields and walking around the lake and i have been trying to teach her about flowers and swans and trees.
She is saying so many more words and i love her more and more everyday.

this blog now will be turning into a little blog about my fairy girl and my life instead of my photography. i hope you all do not mind.

i am taking a little break from photography apart from the shoots i already have planned or promised people.
i am feeling a little lost right now. i seem to have just lost all my drive and positive energy and i have been left feeling really fragile and anxious. I just dont understand how i could wake up one morning and hate the thing i loved so dearly the night before.
Last week i had a shoot for a clothing company with a professional model and another photograper assisting me. I dont think i have ever been so nervous as i was for that shoot! i became so anxious and didnt even enjoy the shoot as i was secretly shaking. after the shoot, i just went home and felt no passion for the pictures or for photography and now i feel so lost and confused as to what i want to do. i was so determined that photography was what i wanted to do and be and i simply breathed it the last few months.
i use to suffer badly with panic/anxiety attacks that i thought i had under control but yesterday at work, i felt that anxious that i had a full attack and ended up being sick. Today at work, i cant even speak to customers on the phone and have been put on emails to keep myself calm.

It seems like this high wall i have built has just crumbled around me and i need someone to show me what to do or who to be because right now, i just dont know who i am.

Right now, i am just concentrating on being the best mummy i can to my fairy and i think that is what i need to do right now. Put everything i am into her and eventually i will work out what i want to do or be.

i do apologise about the negative post. I do not normally write my feelings but i think i just need a release.

I am utterly in love with him and his work. He is such a huge inspiration and it does make me sad to think that i dont believe i could ever be that good! i have the ideas but i can never execute what i want well enough. I need to learn about indoor lighting mostly but my lovely husband works in a theatre and is going to get me a kit and help me learn all that i need to. it is quite exciting to start learning new techniques considering i am completely self taught.

One day, i WILL be able to shoot pictures like this. i just need to believe.

I have a new baby neice. My beautiful sister gave birth in the early hours of tuesday morning. Right on her due date! I am so proud of my sister. so proud. She isnt just my sister, but my best friend and since she has become pregant, our relationship has grown and grown and by the end of her pregnancy we were seeing each other around 3 or 4 times a week for the whole day! When i was eleven, i was moved away from my brother and sister and i only saw them once a week if that. my sister and brother had an amazing bond and our relationship dwindled as we never saw each other. So, my sister getting pregnant was a little blessing.

Alexie Ruby May was born at 4:25am and weighed 9lb 2. She looks a lot tinier then that though! i love so much already!

Taking these pictures proved very very difficult. The weather outside was freezing and after two or three shots, my body started shivering. I thought i could work through it so carried on until i had around 20 photographs. The ones near the water, i actually have my toes in the water even though it didnt show on the photographs. i set up for my next location and shots, when my whole body started shaking uncontrollaby. i ended up having to go home just after twenty pictures. i had such a lovely big shoot planned and had a rucksack of props, but my body shut down on me. i carried on shaking all evening and today my body just shook for no reason. The things we do for art!!

I am so pleased i found this location. i live right in the town centre, opposite the main supermarket, yet this location is a five minute walk from my house. It is stunning and i cannot wait to see what it will look like in the spring and summer. i have big plans for it for shoots! This is my new secret place.

i reached 300,000 views on my flickr account today which has made me smile alot. And also, my sister is due to have my baby niece in less than a week which has also made me smile!

Childhood memories and VALENTINES OFFER

Some of my favourite photographs from my childhood memories series.

i re-read this morning all the lovely comments that were left on my giveaway post. I am so so overwhelmed by them. They have really inspired me. i was feeling a little confused about my work. I felt stuck in a rut and didnt want to keep taking the same sort of photographs in the same places with me in them but i realised that that is what i enjoyed and when i look back, these are the pictures i love the most. I love creating stories and atmospheres with my treasures. The comments inspired me to carry on being true to my heart with my work and not trying to please others with my work. i love the childlike effect to my work and this is what i shall continue to do. My husband works at the theatre and has access to alot of props and furniture and costumes. i need to explore more with what i have available to me and its quite exciting to think of what i may be able to achieve!

Recently, i have been approached by two very lovely women. Emma from wee tooties (www.facebook.com/weetootie) and Rochelle from summerblossom (www.summerblossom.com.au). I am very excited to be shooting some of their ranges for them! Emma is one of my dear friends who i met online when i first found out i was pregnant with my daughter. We shared our pregnancy and our daughters were born a week apart. I am hopefully going to stay with her in a few months. She is such a wonderful person and mother!

I have a magazine feature out this week i believe which i shall share once i have seen it! :D

My plan at the weekend was to do a hansel and gretel inspired shoot but we had to cancel at the last minute on saturday and then sunday we couldnt fit it into the day and i was poorly anyway! today is a lovely sunny day and i hope to get out for a shoot later this afternoon but it is so hard to organise shoots and get out and about when you are constantly chasing a 16 month old around the house! I am also hoping to start a roll of film today with a very lovely camera my auntie Lizzie (www.lizziemade.blogspot.com) gave me.

i am so overwhelmed with the reponse i have had for the giveaway! i honestly didnt expect so many comments and people are saying the loveliest things! i just wanted to take this time to say thank you for all of your kind words. You have all made me feel really happy and positive about the future of my work!

I went out with my new wireless remote for my first photoshoot with it and when i got to the meadow, i realised that i left the batteries for the remote at home! i still managed to do the shoot but i was so dissapointed. February has come and is a strange month. i wish for it to pass as March is a very exciting month for me. Firstly, my baby neice is due at the very beginning. i also have around five magazine features that i am very excited about. This saturday, i have a hansel and gretal shoot planned. It will be the first shoot for my new series i am planning. i am watching lots of tutorials on how to make gingerbread houses! i hope i can pull it off!

Today, my husband and i are scouring charity shops. I had an idea a few months ago to start up an online vintage clothing/accessories store and my husband has asked to help!! which i certainly will not say no to so that is very exciting.

My goals by the end of the year are to have that little shop up and running and to be making clothes to sell through the shop and also for myself and my darling daughter! This year is very exciting!!

Elle is 16 months old today. She just grows more and more beautiful! i am just so proud of her. my darling teeny fairy!

Recently, i have been editing older shoots as i have ideas for shoots but the weather is not cooperating. Also, i am a full time mummy, so trying to get someone to have Elle for a few hours while i do a shoot is quite hard. I will eventually get to do the shoots though! i have a few coming up. This saturday, i am doing a shoot for a friend.
I have sold quite a lot of prints recently and i feel so grateful to the people who have bought my work. I am so appreciative that people are taking the time out to view and even buy one of my prints! thank you SO much to everyone.

i really loved this picture and tried to give it a new fresh of breath air as when i took the picture, i used a few lens filters. i worked really hard and managed to make it lighter and just in general, better in my opinion.

The Magician

Somewhere on rooftops sat the magician with vena cava eyes and poison on his lips. He hadn’t cried in years but he spent last night in rock clubs with punks on acid and porcelain girls on kaleidoscope podiums. He thought about the ocean and how he had dreamed about finding the most beautiful mermaid and how they would live under rock pools. She would stroke his hair all day and he would bring her shells at midnight.
He had hair like bohemian kings and he smoked opium with shaky hands. He wanted to be so many things. A painter, a sculptor or an Egyptian lover but he was dying from something in his blood. Maybe loneliness.
He wore silver charms. His mother was a gypsy who said that he was cursed. Never to love or to be loved. He would scribble poems. Pages sooted and smelling of smoke, opium, a horrible dream. He would stand on stage every night, pulling rabbits out of hats and ribbons from sleeves. But every night he would quietly sit on rooftops. Bee-stung fingers.

She hated being locked up. Pearls hung from old chandeliers and she wanted to be far away. He never came to see her. He never pushed his body against hers, longing for that burning between palms. Lips. Her eyes had turned old. She had seen too much. Drunken men riding carousels on the pier and women in their finest gowns face down in the ocean.
She clutched her chest. Years of overdoses had damaged her heart. Her legs were weak and she barely dreamt anymore. Her finger nails stained purple from all the tearing and pulling and ripping off the walls and her head was full of too many tales that she knew no-one would believe.
July saw bitter winds. Her eyes pressed shut thinking of those times his stale smoky breath made her feel sick and his rugged hands would bruise her thighs. There were always black crows at the window and empty pill cases scattered on needles. She lived in a movie. But at the end, no-one ever came to save her.

I wrote these in 2007. i wrote alot in 2007. I filled four whole journals of writings and thoughts and dreams. i havent written in such a long time and i do truly miss pouring out my soul. i have a few new journals that i would love to fill. i have so many plans but i always seem to never achieve what i set out too. i need a day to myself in the woods i think. For inspiration.

Next week, i am going to see the nutcracket ballet which i am so happy about. it is my favourite ballet. i remember sitting with my grandma watching it as a little girl!

There is so much i would love to do today! i would love to be able to walk into a charity shop and find wonderful dresses make of lace and tulle and glitter and silk and i would love to be able to find lace up vintage boots and summer sailing shoes!
Also, i would love the sun to come out as i have two shoots planned but cannot do either until the sun is shining. One with my rocking horse by the river and the other one is a shoot of a memory of when i was little. We couldnt afford too much when i was little and all the other children had sledges but mummy sent us out on tin trays which i thought was silly and felt upset the whole way to the hills but as me, my brother and sister all sat on one tray and slid down the hill, we went faster then any of the other children with sledges and it was so lovely and we had a great time! I talked about it with mummy the other day and it just brought back a lovely feeling from my childhood. i would love to do a shoot about that memory. I have my sister over for the day and i hope she would remember that too!

i have dont two client shoots this week. One for my friend Gemma and one for a lovely lady named Emily who owns her own floristy business. It was freezing in the snow and she was just in evening dresses but we had such a fun morning and i nearly fell head first into the frozen lake!

I hope to have a lovely year this year. I have so many ideas and plans for my photography and i even woke up at three am this morning with two other pictures in my head that i had dreamt about! so i quickly scribbled them down so i could go back to sleep, only to be woken up five minuets later by a little monkey who thought it was playtime!

it snowed overnight more and i just lay in bed watching it. i felt like i was in narnia. Its so magical!

My beautiful Angel, Elle. I cannot express how much i love her. She is my world. i love how she only has curls on one side of her hair and how she has a little triangle at the top of her lip which is so so pretty! i love how wide her mouth opens when she giggles or laughs. And i love how when she wakes her, she sits in her cot giggling to herself and then she see's her kitten, Tilly and she stands up shouting Teeeeeely Teeeeeely!
She is now 15 months. i cannot believe how much she is growing up but she gets more and more beatiful everyday.

we are in the process of finishing her new bedroom:

she has some gorgeous bunting made by her wonderful great aunt Lizzie. i am in love with it and will add more pictures once her room is finally finished.

i have been finding such lovely things. Look at this wonderful little princess and the pea toy:

it was far too many pennies right now but i hope to save up some to get it as it is so so lovely!

Last night, elle slept in her new room but got a little scared so i went in there and sang mary poppins songs (feed the birds and stay awake) for over an hour while she stroked my face through her cot bars. It was really lovely. She is so loving.

Mia Hanson is a photographer i discovered around three years ago as she did the cd cover picture of one of Hannah Furys albums. I just love this series. It is so innocent yet so chilling and haunting.

I hope everyone had a lovely christmas. i am typing this on my brand new laptop which i am so happy i have. I got such lovely gifts. my love got me two wonderful lace dresses and my mother bought me a wireless remote for my camera which i cannot wait to use on a shoot! i also got some lovely sewing books so i can make my baby daughters clothes myself.

i have many resolutions this year. a few i shall keep private but the main one is to concentrate on my photography. lots of shoots, collaborations and hopefully more magazine features. i wish wish wish for all that to come true! i also would love to start making dresses for myself and my daughter out of lovely vintage fabrics :) we shall see what 2010 brings.

i hope everyone have a loevly christmas? what did father christmas bring you all?

We ended up taking my little daughter to the emergency doctor at the hospital yesterday and she has a bad chest infection. She is on anti-biotics and has to have an inhaler. poor thing. hopefully she will start to get better soon!

i am far too excited for christmas. i am having my family over on boxing day so i have been thinking of little things to bake. myabe little cupcakes with christmas frosting and cookies? oooo its exciting!!! :D

it has been snowing! i got very excited as i wanted for a long time to do a shoot i had planned but i still havent managed to do it. i wanted to do a shoot in my wedding dress in a snowy field but my baby daughter is very poorly and i only had a little time to capture these two images! maybe it will snow again soon.

Elle has a bad viral infection and isnt eating or drinking and has now lost her voice so when she cries she squeaks instead. it is horrid for me to watch her. all she wants is cuddles which i am giving plently off.

i am very excited for christmas and what the new year will bring. i am putting everything into my photography next year. i want to be able to write next christmas that i have achieved alot in regards to my work. its very exciting and i cannot wait! my aim this year is to be published in a mainstream magazine and to work with real models, MUA's and hair stylists :)

Here are two images from my window bay shoot i mentioned before. I am really proud of these. For christmas, my mother is buying me a wireless remote for my self shoots so i shall be able to re-do these shoots :)

I have a shoot planned with a professional model end of dec/beginning of jan. I shall update the details when it is all set in stone. I am really excited. We are going to work together on ideas and spend the whole day shooting :) this will be the first time i will be working with firstly a professional and secondly someone i have never met before so i am pretty nervous but also excited. It has really built my confidence planning this shoot so in the next few months i will be putting out casting calls for more models and hopefully biuld up my portfolio :)

My dresser in my new kitchen. This dresser was used in theatre productions and then was stored in a warehouse for years before my husband and i claimed it. He works at the theatre and we were allowed to take a few peices of furniture. My love painted and distressed it for me and i love it so so much! my wonderful aunty (lizziemade.blogspot.com) bought me some wondeful plates and tea cups as my others smashed a few months ago. i am rather pleased with it. i just need a little something else for the bottom shelf.
my house is coming along nicely. Still lots of boxes around as we havent finished my daughters room yet so she and all her things are in with us. but we will have it done by this weekend which i am very excited about and then the decorations can go up!

i have the lovilest bay windows and i am thinking of some nice shoots to do. maybe with my wedding dress. the sun light pours in, especially in our bedroom. i think this afternoon when Elle is napping, i will do a few test shots and then plan a main shoot.

good afternoon.
I have moved house this week and have spent weeks packing and unpacking and i can fianally update here.
i have realised during this moving period how much i miss my writing journals and taking polaroids and sewing. In my new house, i have a craft room now which i am going to spend hours and hours making pretty for myself.

Hello!
Well here is a sneak peek from an exclusive shoot i am doing titled "princess and the pea" for my photography book which is out the beginning of december. I shot part one yesterday afternoon and the next part is being shot next weekend!
I hope you like this little teaser. I am thinking of using this image for the cover but not 100% decided yet. I have around 3 other photos i am pondering over.

i also spoke to my mothers friend yesterday who owns her own printing company about my calenders and it looks like it is all steam ahead! i am working on them now and then i will put them forward for printing :) hopefully by the beginning of november, i will have them on sale if everything goes right! fingers crossed.

I am working so so hard on my photography book. i have a princess and the pea style shoot on the 10th of october planned and a nutcracker one also which will be exclusive photographs for my book. It will be ready at the beginning of december. maybe even before but that is my deadline! i want to make it perfect. it also includes a little of my writing in.

i am moving house in two months and very excited. It is a very big town house with stripped floors and lovely fireplaces in all the bedrooms and living room. i have shoot ideas for inside the house already!

Tomorrow is my baby girls first birthday! This time last year, i was in labour. it is so exciting and scary all at the same time! She has started walking also.

This week, my work was published in Antler magazine. My very first magazine feature was in Antler issue 2 and i am forever grateful to Andi for that. I felt so honoured to be approached again! It is a really wonderful magazine.

i havent been doing alot of photographs this last two weeks. I just lost inspiration and became so increasingly frustrated at not being able to execute my ideas! It is so hard with a nearly one year old who is trying her hardest to walk. i need to be with her every minuet. She can do 5 steps in a row so far!! i am just waiting for her to get up and run off around the room. She is one is 11 days! :(

I am working hard on my book which i hope will be ready at the beginning of december. Also, i have decided to put together a 2010 calender. Details of where this can be purchased will come soon.

I had an email from a magazine last week asking me if i had any photos classed as "urban" for their next issue. I really didnt have anything as most of my photographs are taken in the countryside or inside. I decided to take my little sister and brother out on a photoshoot near my mothers house and we found a little industrial site in the middle of the heath! i couldnt believe my luck and i managed to get these photographs. we had such a great time and of course my little brother wanted to be the photographer for the day also, so i have a little album on my computer of all his photographs he took on the day too! they consist of bits of grass and the sky :)

i wanted to thank everyone for their responses on my last post (Especially Debbie). I think i am just trying to find myself and my style at the moment. I spent years photographing treasures i found and now all of a sudden, my work has gone in a completely different direction without any warning! i feel a little exposed. But i think in a good way. I never liked to show my face (i still dont, that is why in half of my photographs i have my hair covering my face!) and i am gradually exposing parts of myself i kept hidden from the internet for so long. I want to thank everyone for their ongoing support and helping me build up my confidence.

I have started to live and breath photos. I dream about shoots, i spend my hours pouring over inspiration. erin fetherston short films, tim walker books (my bible!, lula magazines. I just cannot get enough. I am really happy with where i am going right now.
I have been offered an exhibition in my town! i am keeping it very quiet right now as i am not sure if i am going to do it. It will be for the whole of october. I have spoken to my family and husband and i am thinking of turning it down for now. It was a big ambition of mine over the last few weeks. I spent hours putting a portfolio together and selling myself to the lady. i am a little unsure now the excitement has worn off. Over the last six months, i have gained so much with my work. experience, exposure and confidence and i am excited to think where i might be in another six months and i think my work will be of a lot higher quality with that extra time. i think i am just having a self doubt moment but i would rather have a lovely exhibition when i feel even more confident and happy with my work as i dont feel i am up to the standard i would love to be just yet.
i am having a meeting with the the lady and will discuss all this and see what she advises. She is ever so lovely and hopefully maybe the beginning of spring, i will exhibit my work. Am i being silly or am i being sensible?

I spent my day yesterday escaped to my childhood places. A lovely little village where i grew up. We walked along the river and i made a fishing rod from sticks and string and hid on an island watching the fishes. It was truly wonderful. The windmill in the background made my heart skip with happiness and i took some lovely photographs. i am so happy with them and the day and i cannot wait to go back there again maybe next week. It really is now my most favourite place. i found a wishing tree and a secret island and a little hut with dozens of wooden boats just scattered around!

This weekend hasnt been so lovely. My little baby girl woke up saturday morning covered in spots. I thought it was chicken poxs but as the morning went. she got worse and worse and massive rashes appeared all over her body. We ending up taking her to hospital and they said she was having a bad allergic reaction. It just got worse and worse through out the day.
Today, it has gone down alot and she seems a little happier. It broke my heart yesterday seeing her so poorly.
